Retirement

My dad Retired from UDOT in February... It is a WELL DESERVED RETIREMENT he worked for UDOT for 42 years!!! He gave is whole heart, sole, time, comittment, energy, did I mention TIME to his job... This job has raised a family with food, a roof, and clothed each of us...Yes there were many days when dad would miss family things or such but when we do look back it provided LOTS for us also... Dad I am so PROUD of you and the EXAMPLE you are I LOVE YOU HAPPY RETIREMENT TO YOU!!!

Mick has still been wrestling and if he was to choose he would wrestle ALL YEAR long.. He is learning more with some Greco and Freestyle wrestling he hopes to get better at each match.. He has come against some pretty tough boys but that just makes him want to become better..
He always has a GOOD TIME with his friends and likes to make new friends at the meets to.. He wrestles this boy from South Salt Lake usually everytime and the two of them decided to become friends so its kinda funny...they are all serious before there match and then when it is over they want to hang out and sit and watch the other wrestlers together, they talk and just hang as mick would sayPosted by Picasa

Its Time!!!

The kids are beginning to get quite a little herd of cows and so this time of year is WAY EXCITING for us.. We become so involved in the process, the care and the comfort for our cows we have a special bond I am sure when we get more than what we have it may be just another birth... But for now it is quite an adreniline rush for each of us. Shaunie has not missed many of her cows giving birth and for wasatch it wasn't any different. Shaunie was especially glad to be there cuz she was able to put the gloves on when wasatch was in trouble giving birth... I was in the house and when Shaunie came in she was so excited with an adreniline of emotions...She said "Mom I could do this every day!!"

Shelby is always right there in the middle of all the help. Shelby tends to be the gopher girl she is always driving to the barn or grandpa's for this or that... She bought her another heifer this year at an angus sale. Shelby, Mick, Shaunie and Mom went to Ogden to the sale she had her picked out the night when we went to the preview show. On our way down it was a blizzard near willard, there were lots of cars off the road and then the traffic stopped. Shelby got a bit worried about the time knowing that her calf was at the top of the sale she was afraid we would miss it. So she calls her dad and he gets a hold of someone at the auction we had a 3way phone call going and shelby ended up buying it while we were sitting on the freeway stuck in traffic.. Good thing we have cell phones. Shelby is excited to be involved with the jr program they have an awesome jr program for these kids. There is always work to be done with the cows but, Shelby always finds a way to make us laugh and joke around when it is workin time.

JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH

This is Mick ya we thought wrestling was over but he just can't get enough of it. He wanted to keep wrestling after little league was over. I asked Ted if Mick could come to a couple practices with his jr high league before I took him to the Freemont Tournament and that is where it began. Mick is LOVING to be able to have LOTS MORE mat time. He is wrestling older boys because he really is supposed to be in fifth grade to do this Junior High League but he wants the CHALLENGE he has LEARNED so much and CHALLENGING himself more. He is fitting in with the older boys just fine and they are respecting him, he has made alot of new friends. He has not had all easy matches and them are the ones he learns the most on. He LOVES ALL the coaches and LISTENS to everything they are teaching him. I sit at practices or meets and watch him he is like this little sponge trying to soak in every word and move they are telling him. MICK WE ARE PROUD OF YOU KEEP UP THE HARD WORK BUDDY!!

SH-- Happens

I write this story for our records

This is the comment we heard over and over after we new EVERYONE was ok!!

December is a bit of a crazy month for everyone and especially crazy on weeekends for SANTA that happens to be a helper at our house. We seem to not have a free weekend to get anything accomplished unless it happens on Sunday ( i know our bad). We all was getting ready for Church on this cold foggy morning of December 20th. Knowing the day was full of other activities with family parties Scott felt like he would not have time due to the fog to get to Logan and back for the party unless he left while we were at church. I decided that I didn't want him going alone in the fog so Shaunie and I ended up going with him. We left for Logan with a load of straw to deliver to a friend. Suprising we hit the county line and cache county was not foggy one bit. We are enjoying the ride and visiting with each other shaunie and I both tell dad to go along the creek road. He says "I would rather not, there are lots of turns and brakes lets not with this load k" ok. So we are headed down this gravel road which is pure ice come just puttin along and realize we cannot stop due to the ice and the heavy load we are getting closer to the intersection and a van is coming, Scott is turning the wheels to try and have us go into a field but the truck is not doing anything at this point we brace ourselves, hold our breath and pray that no one gets hurt. We hit the dry pavement not going really fast but the truck and trailer jack knife and the tail end of the truck hits the van. The family in the van are all ok no ambulance needed and we look at it now as a HUGE BLESSING it could of been so much worse. The van and witnesses were on there way home from church and said this happened already this morning due to that sheet of ice. We were able to get the straw unloaded quickly with close friends right there and Rod hooked up the trailer to his truck and we put our truck on it, Rod then drove us home Safely. I am so glad Scott was driving I know he did everything he could to try and avoid hitting the van but in the end When we knew everyone was ok SHIT HAPPENS right.
Not a good day for anyone

Scott got the citation for failure to yield (thanks cache county)

The family got a new van they really didn't mind. We are still dealing with insurance if they are going to total the truck or not the damage is up to $15,000 now.We don't care one way or the other we just don't really want a big truck payment this one is nearly paid for.
